Volunteer for India, in collaboration with Revolution Against Pollution, organized a two day workshop and capacity building training on the role of volunteerism in environmental leadership. The chief guest for the first day of the workshop was the Trainee Divisional Forest officer, Mr. Tejas Jaiswal, IFS of Rohtas district, Bihar.
The first day was dedicated to capacity building of the volunteers with the aid of local resource person specializing in the fields of law, agriculture, volunteerism, journalism, youth, and gender and its intersectionality with the environment, and the second day facilitated on ground work like community engagement, menstrual hygiene, cleanliness drives, tree plantation and awareness programs taken up by the participant volunteers.
Through this project, we were able to impart to the 35 volunteers with various dimensions of the theory of volunteerism and detailed practical knowledge with the help of the invited specialists.
The project also saw a massive participation of young girls who pushed the narrative of the event with their challenges and showed an understanding by grasping the diverse subjects.
We were able to bring together participants from the two districts of Aurangabad, and Rohtas in Bihar to prepare leaders and capable volunteers in the domain of environment and its various facets and to take up further voluntary work aimed at conserving the environment through large and small scale initiatives.
