#Humans of Volunteer for India

The experience of volunteering with Volunteer for India has completely transformed me. To be more specific, I was extremely shy and lacked self-confidence. I was also not very good at public speaking. However, this journey shaped me into the person I was not. I could work on all of my shortcomings. Volship allowed me to experience things I could have never imagined. In two words, I’d sum up my Volship experience: ‘Happiness’ and ‘Learning.’

Volunteering with Volunteer for India was my first attempt at giving back to the society and it couldn’t have been any better. During a cleanliness drive I got the opportunity to talk to different people and understand their motivation for volunteering and what they enjoyed about it. I, as an individual, learnt a lot and would cherish this experience for times to come and look forward to working with VFI for long time to come. I feel that these events should become an essential part of our life as they serve and educate us about our surroundings.

My journey with Volunteer for India till now has been an eye-opener. Working with like-minded individuals towards understanding the community around me a little better has provided me with the opportunity to broaden my perspective on various issues. Activities like sessions on menstrual and intimate hygeine, teaching anganwadi kids about moral values, personal hygiene and sanitation, interacting with their guardians to understand the issue better has all been nothing but fulfilling experiences.

Volunteer for India gave me a platform to come forward and help people. It helped me gain perspective about what a less privileged society looks like and what are the ground realities of the people and their thinking on the ground level. Volship program made me take initiative and grow as a leader. It gave me an opportunity to become event lead for the Earth Day event through which I raised awareness about climate change. All in all, it was a very great experience which made me think really think about how privileged are we and what can we do to help society.

My volunteering journey with VFI helped me get out of my comfort zone by a big leap. As someone who hardly socialized, I am proud to say that I enjoyed the surveys that we conducted and the contacts that I met through the journey. I’ve learnt a lot professionally and personally. Given a chance I would definitely take it up again. The environment provided was very apt for people starting their volunteering or social work journey.

Volunteering with VFI gave me the opportunity to meet new, diverse and open minded people. I had a wonderful time working with other volunteers, for small Anganwadi kids. The best part is, now most of the kids remember my name any time I visit them, and I have received two cards hand made by them. It gave me opportunity to lead the Earth day event, from planning to execution, which has added immensely to my skills.

I really loved volunteering with Volunteer for India and how evolving it is! It truly brings a group of people with similar passion towards volunteering together and actually bring a change! Its all about team work and creativity. I admire how a collective group of ideas can make a difference to the underprivileged and unaware sections of our society. Initiatives like Volship play such a crucial role in the future of nation.

I was a part of the workshop “Environmental leadership through Volunteerism” which was organized by Volunteer for India. Our team spoke to the women of the village about menstruation and hygiene. Working on the ground level boosted up my confidence, and made me realize the difference between reality on the ground level and what’s shown to the world. I’m very grateful for the opportunity and platform VFI provided me with.

Volunteering for a good cause in itself a great feeling, and that is the reason I joined Volunteer for India. One of the things I enjoyed about working with VFI was that all are like minded people. Volunteers come up willingly for a good cause without having to force them. When like minded people come together for a cause, the world sure gets better.

I learned to do quality social work, to not be afraid of mistakes, to discuss problems and to find the best solutions. In general, I can say that volunteering with Volunteer for India was an invaluable experience for me, and the knowledge and skills I gained during this period will certainly help me in the future.

The journey with VFI has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. It has allowed me to contribute to the development of the community with all of my abilities. Considering our area of work- Menstrual Hygiene Management and Child Sexual Abuse, the target demographics were women and children, as well as government schools and colleges. Along the journey, we met beneficiaries who we have helped and will continue to aid to the best of our ability and in any manner feasible.
